TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department is asking for the help of the public in identifying an armed robbery suspect.
According to Dawn Barkman with PCSD, a male suspect walked into the Quik Mart at 4280 East Benson Highway on July 5. He stole two cases of beer and walked out of the store.
As the suspect exited the Quik Mart, he confronted a victim in the parking lot. He robbed a victim at gun point in the parking lot and grabbed him by the shirt. The victim was able to pull out of his shirt and break free from the suspect’s grasp. As the victim began to run, the suspect pointed the gun at the victim and pulled the trigger.
It is believed that the gun either malfunctioned or a round was not chambered in the gun, says Barkman.
The clerk was already on the phone with 911 while the suspect racked the gun and the victim ran into the store.
The suspect left the area in a maroon SUV.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
