Border Patrol arrests 5, seizes 3,000 pounds of pot.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - In 3 separate incidents within 24 hours agents with the U.S. Border Patrol seized more than 3,000 pounds of marijuana and arrested five suspects.
On Tuesday, a US Border Patrol agent with his canine at a checkpoint on Highway 80 found 88 small bundles of marijuana in various compartments throughout a vehicle. Approximately 140 pounds of pot was seized and the driver was arrested on federal drug charges.
A helicopter with the CBP Office of Air and Marine found smugglers in the desert northeast of Lukeville Arizona. Agents using all terrain vehicles responded and recovered 42 bundles of marijuana along with 3 Mexican nationals. In total the marijuana seized weighed 1,915 pounds and was worth close to 1 million dollars in street value. All 3 suspects were arrested on federal drug charges.
And on Wednesday, agents recovered 12 bundles of marijuana abandoned near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents estimate the street value of this seizure at $479,500.
