TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Shots have been fired in the parking lot of an east-side Tucson WalMart store. The store is located on the southeast corner of Kolb & Speedway.
Sgt. Matt Ronstadt with Tucson Police were called to the scene before 4:30 p.m. for a reported carjacking attempt in which a shot was fired.
Investigators believe that two suspects tried to carjack a driver of a Lincoln sedan in the parking lot. The man and one of the carjackers who was armed struggled causing the gun to fire striking the sedan.
Both suspects fled in a grey sedan from the scene. The victim in the carjacking attempt was not injured.
The WalMart store was evacuated for a short period of time so police could determine whether any of the suspects had fled into the store. Sgt. Ronstadt said that employees and customers were allowed back in a short time later.
Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
