THE NATL WEATHER SVC IN TUCSON HAS ISSUED AN

* URBAN & SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR.
 EASTERN PIMA COUNTY IN SO. CNTL AZ.

* UNTIL 500 PM MST

* AT 335 PM MST.NATL WEATHER SVC DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER EXTREME EASTERN PIMA COUNTY THAT ARE MOVING WEST. THESE STORMS HAVE A HISTORY OF PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. ONE OF THESE STORMS MOVED OVER BENSON IN NW COCHISE COUNTY & A TRAINED SPOTTER REPORTED THAT THE STORM PRODUCED AN INCH OF RAIN IN 25 MINUTES.

THESE STORMS WILL AFFECT AREAS SUCH AS CORONA DE TUCSON.VAIL AND SAGUARO PARK EAST DURING THE NEXT HOUR OR SO.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS IN WASHES & STREAMS.& PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN AREAS.
HIGHWAYS.STREETS & UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE AREAS & LOW LYING SPOTS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE ELEVATED OR PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN OR OTHER AREAS IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
