Northwest Fire responds to apartment fire

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The Northwest Fire Department responded to a fire call that damaged two apartment units.
Katy Heiden, a spokesperson for the Northwest Fire Department tells KGUN9 that firefighters were dispatched to the La Jolla Apartment at 444 West Orange Grove Road.
When firefighter arrived on scene, they found flames coming from a first floor porch reaching up to a second floor porch above. Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack and were successful in confining fire damage to the exterior of two apartments.
The lower apartment, home to one adult and one child, sustained smoke damages and porch furniture and a storage closet and contents were destroyed. The second floor apartment, home to one adult and two children, sustained light smoke damage and the balcony porch was destroyed.
Northwest Fire Investigators determined the fire started on the patio of the first floor apartment, and while the exact cause is undetermined, it is believed accidental. Damage is estimated at $30,000. There were no reported injuries.
